With BicyBAGS, travel the Vélidéale from Ruffec to Saint-Nazaire

The Vélidéale (formerly V93) is a 675 km cycle route that stretches from Creuse to Loire-Atlantique via Charente, Deux-Sèvres and Vendée. Relatively recent (opening in 2024), BicyBAGS is pleased to offer its services to cycle travellers on the Vélidéale route:

From Ruffec to Niort, cycle through the plains of northern Charente and southern Deux-Sèvres

Passing through Chef-Boutonne and Melle, this section offers a beautiful escape through plains, villages, and little-known heritage. Visit the castles of Saveilles, Javarzay, and the Royal Abbey of Celles-sur-Belle.

The Vélo Francette and the Vélidéale, from Niort to Parthenay

They (the Vélidéale and the Vélo Francette) share a common route for approximately 60 km. The hilly route, mainly on quiet roads, offers a romantic escape through bucolic landscapes and peaceful villages. If you start in the Sèvre Niortaise valley, the race ends along the Thouet River.

In the heart of historic Vendée and in the Sèvre Nantaise valley

A few kilometers after Parthenay, you enter the historic Vendée and the “Little Towns of Character” take turns on the Vélidéale route to feast your eyes. Start by visiting the town center of Bressuire and its monuments. Then, climb the mound of Mauléon Castle to enjoy the 360° panorama. Then in Mallièvre, a magnificent hamlet of a few souls, you join the Sèvre Nantaise which will accompany you to Nantes. Finally, in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre and Mortagne-sur-Sèvre, enjoy the charming banks of the Sèvre and a remarkable heritage. Finally, Tiffauges and the Bluebeard Fortress are a lovely ending to this excursion in the Vendée.

Take a trip to the incredible Puy-du-Fou. The “World’s Best Theme Park” is located just a few kilometers from the route. We recommend taking the Vendée Vélo Tour from Mallièvre to get there.

The Velidéale in Loire-Atlantique, Nantes, Saint-Nazaire

Clisson welcomes you magnificently in Loire-Atlantique. With its castle and its historic center with its unique atmosphere, you feel at home there. Then, take the road again to cycle through the Muscadet vineyards. It’s a local institution and we recommend you enjoy it with a good basket of oysters! Moreover, the Chaussée des Moines in Vertou is a beautiful place to let yourself go for a break on a terrace. You reach Nantes by following the Sèvre. Be careful on the island of Nantes, strange mechanical creatures wander there. On this subject, for a poetic and historical journey, we advise you to follow the Voyage à Nantes which will make you discover the city wonderfully. Possible turnoff to the Vélodyssée 🌊

On this final stage of the Vélidéale, the Loire is your guide. Sometimes along the south bank, sometimes along the north bank, you follow it to Cordemais. Beautiful landscapes unfold before you, and you cycle between the Loire marshes and peaceful countryside.

Finally, Saint-Nazaire is just a few turns of the wheel away. The marshes accompany you to your final destination and you discover charming villages. In Saint-Nazaire, many visits and activities are possible:
